Crime of the week 5/9/22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

There have been several robberies to Decatur businesses over the past couple weeks.   In each of these robberies a lone suspect will enter the business armed with a crowbar when there is little to no other customers.  The suspect will then threaten the employees and take an undisclosed amount of cash.  The suspect then flees the business on foot in an unknown direction. 

The suspect is described as a heavier set b/m, dressed in a black hooded zip up shirt, and black pants.  The suspect has his face covered by either a black ski mask or balaclava.   

If you have any information regarding these robberies, please call Crime Stoppers at 217-423-TIPS.  You do not have to give your name.  Crime Stoppers will pay $500 or more for information that leads to an arrest on the crime of the week.  Thank you.

News Release 07/28/15

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

The City of Decatur has had multiple armed robberies, from 07/24/15 through 07/28/15.  The Huck’s Convenient Food Store at 204 N. 22nd St., Thornton’s at 1707 E. Pershing Rd. and Circle K., 3002 N. Water St. were all victims of these robberies.  The suspect is described as a Black male, 5’08, 190-200pds who was last seen wearing a Dark Blue Sweatshirt, White T-shirt and Dark Blue Sweatpants.  The suspect entered the stores armed with a Black handgun and stole an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency.  The suspect used women’s pantyhose over his face to disguise his appearance.

News Release 06/25/15

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

The City of Decatur has had multiple shootings in the area of 1300 N. Union, Union St. and Packard St. and the 500 block of W. Leafland Ave., over the past few weeks.   Multiple suspects have exchanged gunfire with each other and there has been victims shot during these incidents.  We are asking that you help stop this violence and keep our community safe.  Please contact Crime Stoppers with any information that you have regarding the suspects and locations of any firearms that they may possess.

News Release 05/18/15

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On 05/17/2015, at approximately 1:30 am a Criminal Damage occurred at 150 E. William St., (Haines and Essick).  A display window and flower box which were both located near the front entrance of the store, were damaged.  Two unknown Black male juvenile suspects dressed in all Black clothing, were seen in front of the business when the incident occurred and took off running Northeast through a vacant parking lot, when confronted by a witness.
