Crime of the week 5/2/22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On April 23rd, at approximately 10:05 PM, Decatur Police responded to Roosevelt Apartments located at 701 W Grand in reference to a shooting. 

Officers arrived on scene and observed numerous individuals in the area.  Three of these individuals were struck by gunfire with one victim later expiring from his injuries.

The investigation revealed there was a gathering on the west side of Roosevelt apartments when two individuals began shooting multiple shots towards individuals in the crowd.  These two suspects then ran in a W/B direction towards Pine Street.

Both suspects were described as taller b/m’s, with a thin build.  The suspects were observed wearing dark colored clothing.

Crime of the week 4-11-22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

Over the past several weeks there have been numerous burglaries in Decatur to various gaming parlors as well as restaurants with gaming machines.

These burglaries occur in the early morning hours and are often discovered by employees who observe forced entry to the business.  In most of the burglaries the suspect will steal or attempt to steal cash located in the gaming machines.  

The suspect in most of these burglaries appears to be a w/m, wearing black hooded shirt, and ski mask.

Crime of the week 4-4-22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On March, 5th 2022 at approximately 8:30 PM Decatur Police responded to the 100 block of S Oakland in reference to a pedestrian involved hit and run accident.  Two individuals were severely injured as a result of this hit and run. 

The investigation revealed a blue colored four door sedan was traveling N/B on Oakland at a high rate of speed.  This vehicle struck two individuals and then proceeded E/B on Main Street.

The suspect vehicle has chrome door handles, chrome or alloy rims, and damage to the front driver’s side quarter panel.

Crime of the Week 3/28/22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

Between March 18th and March 20th, 2022, there were three separate vehicular hijacking incidents reported to Decatur Police.  In each of these incidents the suspects would display a gun and steal or attempt to steal a Dodge Sedan.  All these incidents occurred on the north side of Decatur. 

The suspects in these incidents were described as black males, mid 20’s, average height, and were wearing masks.

Crime of the week 2/14/22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On January 7th, 2022, at approximately 2:15 P.M. Decatur Police responded to Woodmound Plaza located in the 3700 block of N Woodford in reference to a shooting.  Officers arrived on scene and observed numerous shell casings of various calibers scattered in the parking lot. 

A victim would show up at a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.  This victim was uncooperative with police. 

Officers spoke to witnesses on scene who were able to describe one of the shooters as a B/M, 5’8”, thin build, wearing a black colored ski mask.  The suspect was observed driving a dark colored Toyota sedan with dark colored rims.  An image of this suspect from a surveillance camera can be seen on the wanted faces tab (22-2).

Crime of the week 1/24/22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On January 3rd 2022, at approximately 3:00P.M. Decatur Police responded to the intersection of N Water / E Waggoner in reference to a shooting.  Officers arrived on scene and observed numerous shell casings scattered in the roadway.  A short time after this shooting a gunshot victim arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. 

The investigation revealed a black colored Chevrolet Equinox was traveling North bound on Water Street.  This Chevrolet Equinox was observed to have tinted windows and a gray colored rear bumper.  A front seat passenger in this Equinox was observed leaning out the window holding two handguns when he began shooting at the victim’s vehicle.  The Equinox was observed driving away from the crime scene N/B on Water Street towards Garfield.

The front seat passenger of the Equinox was described as a b/m, in his 20’s, with short hair.

Crime of the week 1/3/22

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On September 19th, 2021 at approximately 3:20 A.M. Decatur police responded to the 1300 block of E Walnut in reference to a shooting.  Officers arrived on scene and observed two individuals sitting in a parked vehicle who were shot.  One of these two individuals would not survive their injuries. 

Numerous arrests were made in this investigation however we need your help with one more.  Bryan C. Mcgee B/M, 22yoa, 5’7” and 175 lbs is still outstanding and has multiple warrants for his arrest.  One of these warrants is for first degree murder reference this incident.

Crime of the week 12/6/21

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week. 

On November 26th, 2021 Decatur Police responded to Wathan’s Auto Repair located at 3162 N Woodford in reference to a burglary.  Officers arrived on scene and observed forced entry to the business.  A cash register and an undisclosed amount of money was observed missing.    

The investigation revealed a late 90’s to early 2000’s model gray colored Buick passenger car drove on the lot of the closed business.  The Buick was occupied by a w/m who appears to be 30-40 years of age, 6’0”, 180lbs, with dark hair and a beard.  The suspect was wearing a gray hooded shirt and sweats along with black colored gloves.  The suspect appears to have a tattoo on the left side of his neck.

Crime of the week 11/15/21

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On November 9th, 2021 at approximately 3:15 P.M. Decatur Police responded to the intersection of E Mound / N Water in reference to a shooting.  Decatur Police arrived on scene and observed the driver of a black Dodge Challenger to have a life-threatening gunshot wound.

The investigation revealed the occupants of a gray van fired multiple rounds near this intersection with one round striking the victim in the Dodge Challenger.  The van was last observed driving E/B on Mound.

Crime of the week 11/9/21

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On October 30th at approximately 3:30 A.M. Decatur Police responded to the 1100 block of N Union in reference to a shooting.  Officers arrived on scene and observed a male victim; later identified as Stephen Miner, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Mr. Miner was later transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.  

Officers observed a large house party in this block which was attended by upwards of 100 individuals.  Officers also observed numerous shell casings of various calibers near the residence where the house party was occurring.  Officers attempted to speak to several individuals who either had little information or refused to cooperate.

While on scene three more individuals arrived at area hospitals with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
